The expenditure of the technician health insurance on record level

The spending volume of Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has reached record levels. In 2012, according to the health insurance company, 303.2 million were spent on medical care for the insured in northeastern Germany. As a result, spending has increased by a whopping eight percent over the previous year.
Statistically, the expenditures of the TK in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern corresponded to 2,027 euro for each TK insured in the year 2012 against 1,948 euro in the year 2011, so the announcement of the health insurance. By far the largest expenditure items were hospitals with 622 euros per insured person. The general medical treatments cost the health insurance 407 euros per insured person and for dental treatments 189 euros were spent per member of the TK in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The high expenses for pharmaceuticals were also striking. For each insured 367 euros were due for medication.
Expenditure of the technician health insurance nationwide drastically increased
Volker Möws, the head of the TK regional representation in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, explained that „different factors are responsible for the rising expenditure.“ Here, for example, the medical progress, but also newly introduced additional services of the TC should be mentioned. Nationwide, these factors would have led to a significant increase in the volume of health insurance spending. „Whether doctors, dentists, medicines or clinics - TK has increased its payments in all areas nationwide“, so the statement in the current release. Overall, the health insurance in 2012 with record expenditure of over 16 billion euros. The balance sheet showed an increase of 998 million euros. In view of the good financial situation, according to the information provided by the health insurance fund, it is already being considered whether a dividend could also be paid out to the insured in 2014. For the current year, the TK pours on its own statement „a dividend of around half a billion euros to its members.“ (Fp)
