Hefeweizen was falsely declared as alcohol-free

If you want to treat yourself to refreshment with a non-alcoholic Hefeweizen in the summer temperatures, you might experience a nasty surprise. Because the brewery Brunswick said that there was a mistake in the labeling. Apparently, the alcoholic wheat beer of the brand "Adelskronen" was falsely provided with the label alcohol-free. For some, unwanted alcohol consumption may be a minor inconvenience, for others - such as road users, allergic or pregnant women - this can have serious consequences.

It is the product "Aristocratic Hefeweizen" in the 0.5 liter PET bottle, which is distributed by the supermarket chain "Penny". Affected is the "non-alcoholic" Hefeweizen with the best before date November 2018 and lot L: 12 F07 00 to L: 16 F07 59. According to the manufacturer, the back of the bottle was accidentally covered with the label "nobility crown alcohol-free". "It can thus come to an unintentional alcohol consumption," warns the manufacturer.

refund policy

The food safety portal "lebensmittelwarnung.de" from the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety also warns against the bad beer. The affected goods were removed according to the manufacturer already from the corresponding supermarkets. Anyone who has already bought the beer can return it for a refund of the purchase price in the respective shopping center.

How did the wrong labeling happen??

The brewery stated that the alcohol-free version was processed shortly before bottling the Hefeweizen with alcohol. When changing the varieties labels were sorted wrong, which were then stuck to the bottles. In the context of a monthly inventory then the surplus of the corresponding back labels was noticed.

Possible consequences of unwanted alcohol consumption

In sociable circles one does not like to say no to a glass of beer. As a healthier alternative, non-alcoholic wheat beer enjoys great popularity. If there is an unwanted alcohol consumption, this can have drastic consequences for some people. For example, alcohol in pregnancy is considered hazardous even from a glass. Alcoholics can cause even small amounts of itchy rash and difficulty breathing. Even as a driver, you expose yourself and others to an increased risk of accidents. In police checks threatens a driver's license loss. The excuse that the beer was printed incorrectly, will hardly count. (Vb)
