The public prosecutor Gera raises serious allegations of violence against five kindergarten teachers. They are said to have forced the children to sleep with rabid methods and to have fed them food against their will. The children should have vomited thereupon. One student, who did an internship at the facility, exposed the shattered practices of the kindergarten teachers.
Altenburg kindergarten teachers deny violence allegations
When parents give their child to a day care center, they rely on having their children in good hands. In an Altenburg kindergarten, however, this was far from the case. Five kindergarten teachers are supposed to have their protégés, including handicapped children, wrapped tightly in blankets for nap, tied with gauze bandages and covered with face cloths. In addition, the supervisors are accused of having infested the children against their will, so they had to vomit afterwards. The prosecutor Gera has brought charges of assault and coercion in 58 cases against the women. The head of the day care center should not have known about the rabid practices of her staff. Although she remained in office, but also has to answer for breach of the care and education obligation in court. Both the director and the five accused kindergarten teachers deny all allegations.
The case was uncovered by an intern who had shown photos of the wrapped children at a school presentation. As a result, the accused were forced to leave. The bearer of the daycare „Volkssolidarität“ announced three of the women. The Ministry of Education also ordered that the three kindergarten teachers should no longer be employed in childcare.
The parties filed lawsuits against dismissal for failing to harm the children at any time. For example, tight wrapping in blankets is a reassurance method recommended by midwives. Ultimately, the process resulted in a comparison. Whether or how the women continue to be employed, however, should be decided only after completion of the investigations of the prosecutor. In the meantime, penal orders have been filed against four other governesses.
Violent experiences can trigger trauma in children
Violent experiences can cause severe trauma in children. „When children experience violence, emotional reactions such as anger, grief, or anxiety can occur either immediately after the event or much later. Especially small children who do not speak or speak very little can not articulate their feelings“, explains social pedagogue Gritli Bertram from Hannover. „If experiences of violence are not processed, psychiatric disorders can develop in the later life of affected children.“(Ag)
