Pollen allergy sufferers should begin hyposensitizing in the fall

21/11/2014

Pollen allergy sufferers have no complaints in the fall and winter. This time should be used for hyposensitization. This is indicated by the German Professional Association of Otolaryngologists. With the treatment the immune defense becomes slowly to the allergiauslösenden „intruders“ so that the symptoms can decrease over time and even disappear completely.

Hyposensitization in autumn reduces symptoms of pollen allergy
When the first pollen fly through the air in the spring, many a hay fever sufferer will have a hard time. Itchy, reddened eyes, runny nose and sometimes coughing and even allergic asthma can make life difficult for those affected. However, those who start the right therapy in time can significantly reduce their symptoms, as informed by the German Association of Otolaryngologists. In a so-called hyposensitization, which ideally begins in the fall and lasts around three years, the patient is given injections or oral medication with the allergen. The dose of the allergen is slowly increased, so that an immunological habituation sets in. If the therapy succeeds, the body no longer reacts with an overreaction to the allergenic substance.

Treatment options for pollen allergy in natural medicine
In natural medicine, pollen allergy is not considered a problem of the nose but of the entire human body. Many naturopaths therefore use therapies such as autohemotherapy, hypnosis, Bach flower therapy and intestinal rehabilitation. The overreactions of the immune system should be traced back to the healthy immunological regulatory processes.

In addition, homeopathy is suitable for the treatment of pollen allergy. Agents such as Allium cepa, Euphrasia and Ghalphimia glauca can relieve the symptoms, with the therapies taking place before and during the polling season. (Ag)
