Nursing experts are well received by the insured
06/15/2014
Patients in need of care and their relatives rate nursing experts of the medical services of the health insurance companies (MDK) apparently much more positive than expected. The majority of respondents were satisfied with the examiners.
Most are satisfied with the nurse reviewers
According to a message from the news agency dpa, the evaluators of the Medical Services of Health Insurance Funds (MDK) are far more positive in the judgment of those who need care and their dependents than is generally assumed. Of the almost 5,700 respondents, 86 percent said that they were satisfied with the auditors, nine percent were partially satisfied and five percent dissatisfied. This resulted in a representative survey commissioned by the MDK. Overall, the experts assessed the long-term care needs of 1.4 million insured persons in 2013. The classification of the experts depends on the financial support provided by the long-term care insurance.
Appraisers assess the need for care
The MDK assessors, who are themselves nurses, such as nurses or geriatric nurses, must assess whether someone is in need of care in the sense of the Nursing Insurance Act. Among other things, they inquire about current illnesses, previous illnesses, used aids and what things can be done independently in everyday life. In addition, they provide advice, for example in the selection of other suitable care aids. Comprehensive diagnostics, such as with the family doctor, is not necessary when visiting a MDK. (Ad)
