Patient satisfaction plays a minor role
Patient satisfaction plays a minor role for senior clinicians

For senior clinicians, sales-relevant control measures are more important than patient satisfaction. Likewise, the well-being of the employees and additional social benefits for the staff are not the focus of the chief and senior physicians.
Bed occupancy, case severity, billing volume and DRG system are ubiquitous with senior medical staff. Assistants and ward doctors take some time for the patients and take care of the patient satisfaction and support. This interests the senior medical staff less.
Likewise, patients feel that ward doctors are friendlier and show more affection than senior physicians. Hygiene and cleanliness are the focus of interest for all respondents. That may be due to the broad discussion about hospital infections.
Ward doctors are closer to the patient and value good advice, friendliness and support.
Social benefits such as staff housing, kindergartens for the clinic staff and satisfaction in the workplace are given little consideration by senior clinicians.
According to a study by the University of Applied Sciences Aalen, senior clinicians only focus on tactical and sales-relevant tax figures. Strategies for the advancement and further development of their clinical facility are receiving little or no attention.
"There is a leadership vacuum between senior and executive physicians that contributes to a very different perception of patient satisfaction and clinical controls, and patient satisfaction plays a minor role for senior physicians," said study lead Dr. Bodo R. V. Antonic of the HTW Aalen. (Pm)
