In finding a partner vegetarians and vegans prefer to stay among themselves

17/10/2013

Who suits each other well? The partner agency Gleichklang.de has investigated this question and has investigated how open vegetarians and vegans are in finding a partner. Are meat eaters of interest to them??

For the investigation, the company took a closer look at the data of 17673 meat-eating, 6326 vegetarian and 1042 vegan members. However, 51% of vegetarian singles said they would like to limit their search to other vegetarians or vegans. Of the 1042 vegans, as many as 85% stated that they were predominantly vegetarian or vegan. Most even refused to partner with a purely vegetarian. This means that 55 percent of vegan singles would prefer to partner with a vegan-nourishing person.

Same lifestyle makes personable - compared to vegetarians
The Dr. Guido F. Gebauer, graduate psychologist sees no big surprise in these numbers. Because numerous studies prove that people feel the more attracted to each other, the more they agree in their lifestyles.

The decision for a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle is central to a person's self-image. As a result, other people sharing this trait are perceived as particularly sympathetic. For Dr. med. Gebauer also expresses the particular preference of vegan singles for a partnership with an at least vegetarian, but better vegan living person. The change to a vegan lifestyle usually takes place from a particularly strong conviction. If this lifestyle also takes center stage in other people, a strong increase in sympathy is not uncommon.

Ten good reasons to abstain from meat
1. Meat eaters stink: A study by the University of Prague, in which 30 women had to assess the body odor of study participants, came to the conclusion that the smell of sweat vegetarians was rated much more pleasant than that of meat lovers.

2. Vegetarians live healthier: meat consumption has been shown to increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer and gout. Vegetarian foods contain less cholesterol, saturated fat and purines.

3. Meat breeding is a waste of resources: For the production of meat, many grains that could directly feed humans are fed to animals. To produce 100 calories of meat, 1000 calories of grain must be produced and fed.

4. The suffering of the animals: For many people the main reason to become vegetarian is the suffering of the animals.

5. Good for the figure: By avoiding meat and sausage, the body gets less animal fats. The risk of becoming overweight decreases.

6. Increased wellbeing: Whole grains and legumes contain a lot of fiber, which plays an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes and arteriosclerosis. Even vegetables and fruits contain fiber that is slowly digested in the body and so help to avoid food cravings.

7. Less methane gas: Methane gas, which cows but also sheep during their digestion, burden the climate.

8. Meat Scandals: In early 2013 we were shocked by the news that goulash, ravioli and lasagna contained horse meat.

9. Optimal protein combination: Foods such as cereals, legumes, potatoes, eggs and dairy products make a significant contribution to protein needs. These are optimally recorded when combined.

10. Factory farming: If you take a closer look at mass animal husbandry, you can only feel like chickens or neck steaks. (Fr)
