New Year's resolution Less stress / Health News

New Year's resolution: Most people, according to a poll, want less stress for the coming year.

The majority of Thuringians wish for the coming year above all less stress in their private lives and at work. This resulted in a recent survey of the German Employees Health Insurance (DAK). According to the survey conducted by the Forsa Institute, 62 percent of people said that they especially want less stress for the new year 2011.

Stress and supposedly acute lack of time are gaining more and more in Germany. For example, stress-related illnesses such as cardiovascular diseases and depression have increased significantly in the last ten years. No wonder a majority argues for less stress and more time for oneself.

One in two respondents also said that they would eat healthier in the future. In each case 46 percent of the study participants want to move more in the coming year and spend more time on their own. Much less was in the survey of the classics „stop smoking“ represented. Only 15 percent said they would quit smoking at the turn of the year. That may certainly be related to the fact that for a few years, fewer and fewer people are using their cigarettes. Less alcohol want 12 percent of Thuringia.

For the nationwide survey about 200 people were interviewed in Thuringia. Comparing the country results, Thuringian citizens are characterized by a high degree of stamina in the intentions. About 57 percent said that they had endured last year's resolutions for at least three months or even a whole year. Only in the states of Brandenburg with 60 percent and in Schleswig-Holstein (59 percent) it was a bit more. (sb, 15.12.2010)
