Installation of joint prostheses is subject to quality fluctuations. You can trust these clinics

15/10/2014

According to the special issue „joints“ from „star Healthy life“ For the second time, the AOK has named the 20 best hospitals for knee and hip joint operations. The basis of the selection was an anonymous data collection among the 24 million AOK insured persons according to the standards of QSR (quality assurance with routine data).

According to this, data on cases in the years 2010 to 2012 as well as on follow-up observations until the end of 2013 have been included in the new analysis. Quality indicators include complications such as surgical problems and unplanned follow-up procedures. A total of 16 clinics were added to the list of the top 20 in 2012, five hip replacement and eleven knee replacement clinics. Another quality feature is the number of cases handled. "It is well known: the more frequently joint operations are performed, the less likely it is complications," says Christian Günster from the AOK's Scientific Institute. "But even among the clinics that have been ousted from the top lists, many are still showing above-average results.“ Only clinics that treated at least 30 AOK insured persons were included.

A detailed list of all clinics assessed by the AOK can be found on the internet at www.weiss-list.krankenhaus.aok.de. Enter "Operative insertion of an artificial knee joint" or "Operative insertion of an artificial hip joint" and the distance in which the clinic should be located. Then click on the "Quality Assurance with Routine Data (QSR)" tab on the results page at the top of the table.. „The data in the hospital navigator helps our insured persons and all other interested parties to obtain comprehensive, quick and easy information about the medical quality of hospitals“, affirms the CEO Rolf Steinbronn.
