The German Heart Foundation has published a new guide to hypertension

The German Heart Foundation e.V., in which numerous renowned cardiac specialists are members, has published a new guide to hypertension. The title of the guide is: „Hypertension today - lifestyle, medications, new procedures“ and was during the heart weeks with the main topic „hypertension“ presented. The booklet is aimed primarily at patients and informs about all types of therapy of a permanently elevated blood pressure. Consciously, the authors have used a language that is easy and understandable for everyone. In particular, the latest scientific and medical developments were incorporated to ensure a comprehensive overview. Affected and relatives receive valuable advice and information in dealing with the disease.

Hypertension occurs when the blood pressure of the arterial vasculature is consistently higher than the standard values ​​established by the WHO. According to this definition, hypertension is when the systolic value is over 140 mmHg on average and / or when the diastolic blood pressure (the second reading on the meter) is at least 90 mmHg. "High blood pressure is often like a bomb that goes unnoticed for a long time and eventually goes up in the form of a stroke or heart attack, but how low should the blood pressure actually be at what age?" These and more questions are answered in the special volume of the Heart Foundation.
