Celebrities in South Africa relieved
His longtime companion David Phetoe from Soweto was delighted with the improvement in his health. "It's not always the case that people's hopes are fulfilled, in which case we say - in a Christmas mood - let him stay with us for a while."
„Mandela is an icon of hope for South Africa,“ said Sipho Sibiko from Soweto. He was one of the people on this earth who inspired the artist. „I wish him more happy years and good health, "said Sibiko.
Contradictory information by government agencies
In recent days, conflicting news and information from government agencies has caused a stir and concern. Several times, government spokesmen had voiced false information about Mandela's current whereabouts. From this, many people have suggested that the state of health of the pioneer of apartheid is bad.
Towards the end of his 27-year prison term in 1987, the Nobel Peace Prize winner suffered tuberculosis. Since then Mandela has to be treated again and again because of lung diseases. (Sb)
