Blueberry juice improves cognitive functions in old age

In the study, 12 healthy seniors between the ages of 65 and 77 received 30 ml of a concentrated blueberry juice daily for a total of 12 weeks. This corresponded to about 230 grams of fresh blueberries containing 387 mg of anthocyanins. The control group of 14 subjects received an isocaloric placebo juice.
The participants in the blueberry group showed a significant improvement in brain activity and blood flow in various brain areas after 12 weeks. They also performed better in the cognitive tests. The study can be found here.
