The market research institute TNS Infratest commissioned the University of Duisburg-Essen to produce a current survey on natural remedies. The results show an unabated high appreciation for natural remedies in Germany.

For the study, TNS Infratest interviewed around 1,000 adults in ten-minute computer-aided telephone interviews. 86% of the respondents already look back on their own experiences with natural remedies. Asked what they mean by natural remedies, 87% named herbal medicines, 86% "home remedies" such as a hot lemon for a cold, calf or fever. 77% also include health tea and 70% health baths, homeopathic remedies 58%. 89% said that they choose natural remedies mainly because of their good tolerability, 80% because of their effectiveness and their benefits. Good experiences with natural remedies are reported by 84 out of 100 patients. The most important reference point of natural remedies is the pharmacy. (Pm)
