Naturopathy petition to the Bundestag
Naturopathy petition to the German Bundestag against implementation of the EU ban on the sale of medicinal plants
In naturopathy circles is mobilized: By 11 November 2010, 50,000 signatories to an EU petition on pharmaceuticals against the restriction of trade in medicinal plants in the EU and against the implementation of the EU ban on sales of medicinal plants from 20 September 2010 will be won. The EU wants to restrict the trade in medicinal plants through the planned implementation of the EU Directive on 1 April 2011.
The European Directive on the Use of Traditional and Herbal Medicinal Products (THMPD) severely limits the sale and use of natural products. It is an EU directive to standardize the authorization procedure for traditional herbal preparations used medicinally. This natural products are redecorated to medical products and these in turn must be approved. In all EU countries it will then be prohibited to sell medicinal herbs or plants that have no license. Natural substances to which a healing effect is attributed are no longer classified as food, but as a remedy. Naturopaths evaluate this guideline in such a way that only what can be patented and monopolized with a trade mark is desired. According to the initiators and supporters, nothing that grows in nature can be illegal. Health would not be protected by this, but the sales and profits of large pharmaceutical companies would be secured. All people should therefore decide for themselves what is good for them and what means they would take, „whether chemical bombs or gentle natural remedies“.
To support you can register for it on the side of the German Bundestag and sign this petition. It takes about three to five minutes to sign the petition. (tf, 03.11.2010)
