Food intolerances in children
Food intolerances in children.
(20.04.2010) A food intolerance can hide behind numerous ailments and illnesses, whereby the triggering food are quite difficult to make out. The conventional measure of constantly avoiding all ill-tolerated or suspected foods can seriously affect children's quality of life. Practitioners of natural medicine therefore try to get to the root cause of the incident, so that the child can enjoy the food again in the long term with joy.
The long list of complaints.
The list of complaints that can occur due to food allergies or intolerances is long. Skin disorders such as atopic dermatitis, headache and migraine, frequent inflammatory ear infections, tonsils, paranasal sinuses and bronchi are just as common as bloating, colic, constipation and diarrhea. Also chronic urinary tract inflammation and even cardiac arrhythmias are observed in addition to more general disorders, namely, performance decline, nervous restlessness, hyperactivity or lack of drive and depression. It is dangerous when it comes to severe or persistent diarrhea. Especially smaller children are then threatened by the fluid loss of dehydration with electrolyte loss and blood pressure drop.
The prevention of food should be limited in time.
The conventional therapy consists in the testing of allergenic food, which should then permanently avoid the child. This measure first calms the symptoms and relieves the immune system, but in childhood - depending on the number of allergens - difficult to implement and does not touch on the root causes. In addition, the body also reacts with symptoms if there is an intolerance, but not a classic allergy. The food can not be determined with an allergy test, but instead there is the so-called leaky-gut syndrome and as a sign of a disturbed intestinal milieu.
Non-medical practitioners and naturopathic doctors go in addition to an individually designed and time-limited change in diet different ways to resolve possible causes of the disorder. The investigation on intestinal dysbiosis (bacterial colonization in the intestine) and the subsequent development of the intestinal flora can regulate the immune system. In the treatment of children also offer homeopathy, bioresonance therapy, self-blood therapy or electroacupuncture. Children respond well to Bach flowers, which regulate on the mental level. Therapeutic hypnotherapy, e.g. the self-organizational hypnosis according to Dr. med. Renartz can imaginatively help children to resolve their symptoms. Systemic factors should always be considered by involving parents closely in therapy and counseling. (Dipl.Päd. J. Vinals Stein, non-medical practitioner)
