On Mondays, most work-related accidents occur
On Mondays, statistically, most accidents happen
04/15/2013
A statistical evaluation of the professional association for health service and welfare determined that most work accidents happen on Mondays. The lowest number of accidents occur on the weekend. Presumably because most people here are less under time pressure and stress.
Right at the beginning of the week, on Monday, most workplace and commuting accidents occur. This is shown by current analyzes of the BG for health care and welfare (BGW), the statutory accident insurance for over seven million people in health, social and so-called beauty professions.
Be vigilant on Mondays
That means „Be especially vigilant on Monday“. Apparently, many people who are working start-up difficulties at the start of the week. Compared to the other days of the week, most accidents happen on Mondays. The evaluation of the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association for 2012 revealed that about 12,500 accidents happened on Mondays. „From Tuesday, the numbers dropped from day of the week to day of the week“, reports Albrecht Liese, head of BGW's prevention services. „By the end of the work week, on Friday, there were then just under 9,900 accidents. And at the weekend, even though fewer people are working, the numbers were significantly lower.“
Also, getting to work is more dangerous for workers on assemblies than on other days. These are also used in the insurance industry „commuting accidents“ called. Those are what happened on montages ... „Again, in 2012, Monday led the statistics“, explains Albrecht Liese. „This is probably due to the fact that on Mondays many weekend commuters spend longer stretches in the morning on the road.“
Prepare already on Sunday evening
The BGW prevention director advises that employees are particularly „should be prudent at the beginning of the week“. For example, employees could prepare on Sunday evening and find out about the weather conditions on the Internet the following day. „On Monday it is advisable to start early without hurry from home“. This significantly increases safety and, moreover, contributes to a more relaxed start to the week on Monday.
Cause unknown
Why more accidents happen on Mondays is still unclear. „But it could be that more people are working on Monday than on a Friday“, said a spokeswoman for the Association of Professional Associations, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV). The diploma psychologist Elke Hannauer says: „It is likely that people on Monday increasingly suffer from stress symptoms, because they have to adjust to the work routine again“. By the way, most fractures occur according to a statistic of the Techniker Krankenkasse in the month of January. Here is the cause clearly on the smooth road conditions and winter sports. (Sb)
