Communication problem of the body responsible for obesity

04/02/2014

For many years, the prevalence of obesity has been steadily increasing, making it one of the most common diseases in western industrialized countries. Already over half are overweight in Germany, every fifth German is considered obese. Obesity - and its precursor - obesity - are considered to be a major cause of high blood pressure, as well as elevated levels of blood lipids and blood glucose, which together increase the risk of stroke and heart attack as a metabolic syndrome. They are usually based on a combination of genetic predisposition and unhealthy lifestyle. Those affected often eat too much fat and calories and do not move enough. Also psychological factors such as stress or frustration have a negative effect. A therapy that, like the holistic treatment concept of Chinese medicine, combines several measures is therefore mandatory.

According to Chinese understanding, the excessive proliferation of adipose tissue is due to a communication problem of the body. „Each person has a so-called doorkeeper, a kind of guardian function of the body“, explains Dr. Christian Schmincke, medical director of the clinic specializing in Chinese medicine at the Steigerwald. „These include, for example, taste and smell organ or appetite and satiety.“ They tell the body what is good and what is bad for it and when enough food was consumed. In obese people, the doorkeeper function is disabled. „The aim of the therapy is therefore to revive the doorkeeper so that he can fulfill his important function again“, emphasizes Schmincke. To this end, Chinese medicine is focusing on its holistic treatment concept, which is specifically tailored to the needs of the patient.

Therapy basis forms an individual, based on pulse and tongue diagnosis compiled drug formulation, which the patient boiled as a so-called decoction drinks distributed throughout the day. Adiposity sufferers primarily use remedies that cleanse, purify and purify the body of contaminated sites. „For example, they improve the body's sense of satiety so that sufferers learn to trust their doorkeeper again“, explains Dr. Schmincke. „With the help of this drug therapeutic concept it is often possible to lead people out of the vicious circle of overeating.“

Another important therapy component is the nutritional counseling according to the principles of Chinese diet. It draws attention to aspects of malnutrition and leads sufferers to a reorientation of eating habits. Dr. Schmincke gives an example: „Too much meat and dairy products promote the accumulation of mucus and slow down tissue cleansing. Vegetable-rich food cooked briefly instead forms the important cornerstone for a balanced nutrition balance.“ Acupuncture and body therapies such as Tuina massages and Qi Gong complete the holistic treatment concept. The latter release tension and strengthen the body's function of clarification. Targeted needling of the acupuncture points supports all metabolic activities. (Pm)
