Specifically affected are the food products tapas trio Espanol in slices (150 grams), tapas salami Chorizo Vela Loncheado in slices (80 and 200 grams), tapas Serrano sliced ham (80 and 300 grams) and Tapas Serrano Reserva (quarter and half pieces ). The recall will affect the batches of the specified foodstuffs with the minimum end-use date February 1, 2012. Customers will be prompted not to consume and dispose of purchased food. Alternatively, the goods can also be returned for reimbursement of the purchase price in the trade. For this, the receipt must be presented.
The company emphasizes that this is a „Preventive measure“ act to one „to exclude potential health risks to consumers“. Consumers can use the free service telephone at 0800 - 50 35 75 22 if they have any questions.
Listeria Germs can cause the disease listeriosis after eating contaminated food. The symptoms are similar to a seasonal flu. Infected people usually suffer from diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain and nausea and vomiting after an incubation period. As a rule, the infectious disease is harmless. However, people at risk with chronic diseases, a weakened immune system, older consumers, pregnant women and children are at risk. Especially in the course of pregnancy, the bacteria can be dangerous because they can cause death of the fetus or premature birth. People with a weak immune system are at an increased risk because the infection can spread to several internal organs and cause severe inflammation of the meninges. (Sb)
