Human experiments by the pharmaceutical industry?
Film Tip: Are human trials conducted by the pharmaceutical industry to maximize profit?
Again and again, the pharmaceutical industry is grappling with serious allegations - such as blatant studies or manipulation and fraud. Is the pharmaceutical industry secretly and systematically conducting experiments on people to maximize their profits? This is the topic that French director Thomas Vincent, together with his compatriot and screenwriter Eric Besnard, has adopted. The question of the power of pharmaceutical companies pervades the exciting thriller „The Protocol- Every death has its price“, which is already almost two years old and available on DVD, which the TV station ZDF / neo broadcasted but yesterday evening in the evening program.
The rather rustic loner and forest worker Raoul Kraft - played by Clovis Cornillac (The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Asterix at the Olympic Games) - begins to research the background of his death after the death of his son. In the process, he meets social activist Diane Deltail - played by Marie-Josee Croze (The Invasion of the Barbarians, I loved her), who sets him on the track of potential human-drug attempts that have something to do with the death of his son could. Diane tells Raoul that her husband died during drug testing of the pharmaceutical industry by the latter.
When he then helps in a situation in which Diane is harassed by two men, he gets from the uninvolved affected father in the role of hounded by the police criminals. This begins an exciting action-packed hunt that ends in a tragic finale at the 2008 World Summit in Davos.
The director Thomas Vincent (Karnaval; Je suis un asassin), has with „Le nouveau protocol“ (French title) creates an interesting mixture between conspiracy theory and business crime and manages to maintain the feeling of powerlessness towards the actions of the pharmaceutical multinationals depicted in the film. The end leaves the spectators, who have always been convinced by the natural healing and the corruption of multinational corporations, as well as the main protagonist Raoul, rather helpless and perplexed, but with the satisfied confirmation of the ever-cherished hunch „I have´yes, yes, they make experiments on people!“.
