As a result, over the past five years the month after the changeover, traffic accidents have increased by 28 percent. Daylight saving time will be changed by one hour in the coming weekend in the night from Saturday to Sunday at two o'clock to three o'clock.
For possibly occurring sleep deficit ACE calls various causes for the accumulation of traffic accidents: weather conditions and the spring-like weather due to rapid driving style. The time change was introduced in Germany in 1916, but was not carried out continuously. There were even times when there was another time changeover „High summer“ had to be made. Since 1980, we have today's time changeover, after all the surrounding countries had already implemented it.
Naturopathy has long considered the time change to be a problem. Our organism comes up with certain processes, such as in the cardiovascular and endocrine systems for times that are confused by the time change. If there are other problems in the body, further stress could lead to decompensation. Which explains why some people are more sensitive to the confusion of the rhythm and others less so.
Naturally, one combines concentration and sleep disorders, general irritability, fatigue and other, more general complaints, with problems of time change. Therefore, the topic of the time change is still controversial. From the point of view of naturopathy one considers the time change unnecessary. Statistically, it should be proven that the intake of antidepressants and sleeping pills increases due to time change. Here naturopathy offers alternatives in the form of substances such as St. John's wort, valerian, lemon balm, and others. In addition, measures such as exercise and activities in the fresh spring air can lead to a healthy exhaustion in the evening, which may have a positive effect on sleep.
