More men suffer from impotence
Evaluation: More and more men suffer from impotence
(05.11.2010) According to a survey of the health insurance KKH more and more men suffer from impotence. Men generally do not like to talk about their sexual dysfunctions because they think other people would talk about them „make fun“. The problem of impotence, however, is more widespread than one would expect. Since 2006, a steady increase in erectile dysfunction in men has been observed. The most common causes are stress and mental suffering.
When is there an impotence??
In medical circles impotence becomes „erectile dysfunction“ called. It generally refers to a dysfunction of the male genital organ. Doctors do not immediately speak of impotence in this context, if it did not work with the sexual act a few times. The definition of the German Society of Urology is therefore: "The erectile dysfunction describes a chronic disease of at least six months duration in which at least 70 percent of attempts to perform intercourse, are unsuccessful." The reasons for such a disorder are mostly of a psychological nature; physical malfunctions, according to the KKH alliance, play a subordinate role at around ten percent. Therefore, it is important to take a closer look at the realm of the psyche.
Significant increase in impotence
The health insurance KKH-Allianz evaluated the patient data of its insured persons from 2006 to 2009. The result showed a continuous increase in ambulatory therapies with the diagnosis "impotent" in urologists. The number of tests for impotence increased by a whopping 13 percentage points compared to 2006. 90 percent of those examined had no organic disorders. Just 10 percent of male patients were diagnosed as having organic dysfunction. According to the cash register, the rapid increase is mainly due to increasing stress and an unhealthy lifestyle. Mental and psychological stress are therefore the main causes of a „erectile dysfunction“. This is followed by an unhealthy lifestyle and too little exercise.
Less dysfunction in women
The data of the women were also evaluated. While about 19,000 men had to be treated by the health insurance, just 7,300 women went to the medical care. The number of treatments has fallen according to the results since 2006 by 15 percent. However, the health insurance company believes that the number of unreported cases is far higher for both women and men, since many suffer from shyness and anxiety in avoiding the doctor's visit. Especially for men means the diagnosis „impotence“ a shock. They suffer from the idea, not more than „full-fledged man“ to be viewed.
Prevent and avoid stress
As with all illnesses, prevention is of immense importance. Since organic disease is rare in most cases, it is particularly important to counteract possible impotence. Even those affected should not be afraid to accept the health tips to end or at least alleviate their suffering. The most important factor in this context is again and again called the socially increasing stress. At work and in private life, men and women demand more and more services. That is why it is very important to counteract this. With regard to other diseases such as heart attack, diabetes and high blood pressure, it is extremely important to provide an adequate balance in addition to everyday stress. Everyone has to discover the right balance for themselves. In addition to a healthy and balanced diet, regular exercise plays a major role. Who moves a lot, „gets rid of“ in the moment after many worries. You feel relaxed, happy and balanced. Also, relaxation exercises and positive experiences shared with the partner can provide another positive prognosis. On the other hand, it is contraindicated to withdraw due to impotence. The risk of a sequelae such as depression carries another risk and probably worsens the chance of recovery.
Also the walk to the urologist should not be avoided. Here, first organic disturbances can be excluded. For many men, the diagnosis means „no indicators of organic dysfunction“ a relief. Because now they know what measures they can take to counteract impotence. But even with a physical ailment, the doctor can provide numerous therapeutic approaches that make a sexual act soon possible again. In addition to medicines like „Viagra“ Numerous mechanical aids or medical interventions are available.
Second most common cause vascular constrictions
In addition to mental health problems, so-called vascular constrictions are diagnosed by the specialist. Here promise a variety of medicines remedy. But often the use of medication is not necessary if the patient changes his unhealthy lifestyle. In many cases, it helps to avoid eating fat, stop smoking and exercise more. After just a few months, many men achieved positive results.
Impotence is by no means a "final diagnosis". Those who actively counter against, can soon experience beautiful moments with his partner again. Open-mindedness and targeted approach to problems make the prognosis in a positive direction. (Gr)
