Medical hypnosis with many possibilities
Medical hypnosis with many possibilities

Hypnosis has long been established as a treatment in medicine. But many prejudices persist. Experts try again and again, for example on the occasion of World Hypnosis Day, to refute this.
Regain control over your own body
Being treated to a pendulum in front of spectators by an old man with a beard and a piercing stare so long that you finally bite into an onion or make yourself a monkey in other ways. Olf Stoiber, chairman of the German Association for Hypnosis, wants to finally clean up with such clichés of the dangerous hocus-pocus hypnosis. On the occasion of yesterday's 10th World Hypnosis Day, the Munich Hypnotherapist explained: „Many people believe that hypnosis makes you wanton. In fact, just the opposite is true: Hypnosis helps to regain control of one's own body.“
Hypnotherapy can be used in many areas
Most of his clients, who consciously do not call Stoiber a patient, come to him because they have lost control of themselves. „Be it because of depression, anxiety or nicotine addiction. After a successful therapy, the client has more power over his own thinking, feeling and acting again.“ As a result, hypnotherapy, a hybrid of hypnosis and psychotherapy that combines elements from both areas, is now being used in many areas. „A big area is health prophylaxis. This includes stress management, smoking cessation or the desire to lose weight. Psychotherapeutic hypnosis helps with depression, phobias and trauma, but is also often used in infertility or childbearing.“
During births and dental visits
Even Duchess Kate had last July on the so-called „Hypnobirthing“ set when she gave birth to her little prince. It is a natural method in which various relaxation exercises serve to completely or partially avoid the birth pains and to relax and consciously experience and enjoy the birth. But not only births, but also upcoming dental visits are for many a reason to try a medical hypnosis. „Self-responsibility is returned to the patient in the context of hypnosis, so that he can activate his self-healing powers“, said the dentist Allan Krupka, President of the Austrian Society for Medical and Dental Hypnosis (ÖGZH). „This is nothing but to direct the patient's attention from his fear to his inner resources.“
Unclear what exactly causes hypnosis
In professional circles, there is still a lot of discussion about exactly what hypnosis does in the body. „It is clear that direct access to the subconscious is laid“, so beaver. „Hypnosis always goes hand in hand with mental peace.“ In principle, every human being is suitable for hypnotherapy. „Provided you have a strong desire to make a difference.“ In this case, there is nothing standing in the way of a journey into the subconscious.
Hypnosis is one of the oldest treatments
Modern science first saw hypnosis as a phenomenon over two centuries ago. The treatment itself is one of the oldest treatment methods. Step by step, this technique of suggestion finds its way into conventional medicine, where it is used, for example, in coping with stress or coping with pain. It can also be used as a bleeding control in small and medium operations. In the context of hypnosis, patients are given verbal instructions, so-called suggestions, which are supposed to have a direct effect on the unconscious. A trance condition should be achieved, which should mobilize the self-healing powers of the patient. The World Hypnosis Day has been held every year since 2002 on the 4th of January. (Ad)
