Accelerate use of the electronic health card
Federal Health Minister Hermann Gröhe (CDU) wants to speed up the widespread use of the electronic health card (eGK) through incentives for physicians. Physicians are to be rewarded for this, if they no longer send their medical reports, for example in hospital layoffs, by mail, but on the future system. This reports the news magazine „Focus“. According to a news agency dtswill Gröhe set this in the eHealth Act.
Years of delays
The magazine learned from the ministry that self-government is required, „to make financing agreements.“ The Minister of Health wanted that „patients feel the benefits of the electronic health card as soon as possible.“ The introduction of the new health card has long been a political permanent project. Originally it should be implemented already in 2006. The delay arose among other things because of technical problems, but also fundamental discussions about necessity and data security had delayed the start of the eGK for a long time.
Gröhe wants to present the design by the end of the year
In some cases, data protectors still complain that the sensitive data is not sufficiently protected. It was also recently reported that the old health insurance cards remain valid until the end of the year. Actually, these should expire at the end of September, but the deadline could not be met because the exchange of cards had stalled. Federal Health Minister Gröhe plans to present the draft eHealth law by the end of the year. (Ad)
