Marktkauf & EDEKA recall chicken breast fillets - the reason for this are found metal shards
GOOD & CHEAP Chicken breast may contain metal shards
The Federal Institute for Consumer Protection and Food Safety as well as EDEKA and Marktkauf inform about a recently started recall. Hans Kupfer & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG recalls its chicken breasts. The manufacturer can not be ruled out that there are pieces of metal in the chicken breast.
Concerned is the article "GOOD & CHEAP Delicatessen Chicken Breast Filetroulade" in the 150 gram pack with the best before dates from 03 February 2019 to February 15, 2019. Consumption is strongly discouraged due to a possible risk of external and internal injuries. The affected chicken breast is mainly offered at branches of EDEKA and Marktkauf.

According to the retailers concerned, the item has already been removed from store shelves. "Consumers who have bought the affected item will receive a refund of the purchase price in their shops without presenting the receipt", EDEKA writes in a customer information on the recall.
What are the health risks of metal parts in food??
Metallic debris can cause cuts and punctures in the mouth or damage the teeth while chewing. If the metal part is swallowed, depending on its shape and size, it can block the respiratory tract and cause breathing difficulties or even shortness of breath. In the worst case, there is a danger of suffocation. Swallowed metal parts can become lodged in the body and trigger inflammatory processes. Should it be pointed or sharp-edged parts, internal bleeding is not excluded.
