Many executives suffer from sleep problems and corresponding lack of sleep. The Max-Grundig-Klinik in Bühl has found in a study with 1,000 managers of companies of all sizes and industries that 59 percent of respondents suffer from sleep disorders, reports the news agency „dpa“ citing a notice from the private clinic on Monday.

According to the Max-Grundig-Klinik, the blatant deficits in the quality of sleep among executives naturally lead to a significant reduction in performance, including daytime sleepiness. Although it is possible for a large part of those affected to temporarily hide these impairments, lack of sleep in the long term leads to a decline in performance and emotional reactions.

The medical director of the clinic, Thorsten Kienast, is of the „dpa“ quoted as saying that those affected and their environment is often caused solely by sleep disorders „Change in personality style towards increased impulsiveness or withdrawal and depression“ determine. The survey among executives has shown that many find it very difficult to fall asleep or wake up several times during the night. According to the clinic, as many as 21 percent said that regular sleep rhythms would be impossible for them to work at night or because of their work-related journeys over several time zones. (Fp)
