Listeria strain: Recall for chicken minifilets started
The Paul Daut GmbH & Co.KG has started a recall campaign for "maximum naturel chicken minifilet ready to eat fried, 250g". An increased proportion of Listeria had been found in the product. Among other things, these bacteria can cause nausea and vomiting.

On the portal "Lebensmittelwarnung.de" of the federal states and the Federal Office for consumer protection is informed about a recall for "maximum nature chicken minifilet ready to eat fried, 250g" of the company Paul Daut GmbH & Co.KG in 33378 Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Affected is therefore goods with the best before dates 05.08.2016 and 19.08.2016.

Increased percentage of Listeria noted
In the product concerned "an increased proportion of Listeria was found," the company writes in a statement. "These can be detrimental to your health, including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Pregnant and elderly people can be particularly affected. "

Goods taken from the sale
According to the company, in the interests of preventive consumer protection, they have decided to take the product "Chicken Minifilet, ready to eat fried" of the brands Maximum Natur and Sprehe delicatessen as a precautionary measure out of the sale. It is badly recommended not to consume the goods. Customers who have bought one of the corresponding products, can return the goods against reimbursement of the purchase price without presentation of the receipt in their shops.

The reports of evidence of Listeria pile up: Just a few days ago, the food producer Ostsee Fisch GmbH & Co. had announced a recall of Graved Lachs. The proven Listeria (Listeria monocytogenes) may cause a so-called "listeriosis" in humans.

For weak and pregnant women, the bacteria can be dangerous
The disorder can cause symptoms such as vomiting, muscle aches, diarrhea and fever. While the disease is usually harmless in healthy adults, it may be dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems, such as blood poisoning, brain or meningitis. In pregnant women, the risk of premature birth or miscarriage increases.

Better refrain from certain foods
According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), among other things, persons at risk should not eat unprocessed animal foods (such as Mett) in order to protect themselves. Smoked or marinated fish products and raw milk cheese should therefore be better avoided. (Ad)
