Paraguay's President Fernando Lugo was flown to a Brazilian hospital for emergency treatment. The president is suffering from lymphatic cancer. The doctors detected a blood clot in a jugular vein, prompting immediate medical attention. The cancer was already detected in August this year.
Only in August 2010 was diagnosed with the Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo lymph gland cancer (Hodgkin's disease). It is a very rare cancer affecting the human lymphatic system. If Hodgkin's disease is recognized in time, the chances of a cure are accordingly good. Conventionally, lymph node cancer is treated with chemo- and radiotherapy. Pre-existing diseases are often the so-called Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) or a dysfunction of the immune system.
However, yesterday evening the state of health of the president seems to have worsened. The treating physicians detected a blood clot in a jug last night. As a result, President Lugo was immediately taken to a clinic in Brazil. According to medical experts, Lugo is now in an intensive care unit.
President may leave the country for five days in principle
