As a protection against tooth decay take over the insurance of the back molars in children. The health insurances are paying for the costs for 6- to 17-year-olds, explains the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG). For the sealing of other teeth, however, parents have to pay for themselves. During treatment, a white plastic is filled into the furrows of the chewing surfaces, which then seals the teeth. The risk that the occlusal surface of the treated molars will be affected by tooth decay drops significantly. Nevertheless, regular and thorough brushing can not be avoided. (Fr)
