After smoking herbal mixtures, several adolescents in the Bad Kissingen district and in Würzburg had to be hospitalized in the past few days with the most severe disturbances of consciousness, reports the police headquarters in Lower Franconia. The victims were physically out of control, were partially collapsed and had injured in falls. Two young men, aged 19 and 23 years, were flown to the hospital with the rescue helicopter because of their critical condition. A total of seven people had to be referred for massive complaints after smoking herbal mixture in clinics. „Whether the respective herbal mixtures used were of the same origin or what exact compositions they had“, is according to the police so far unclear.
The supposedly harmless herbal mixtures are quite popular among many adolescents as a (semi) legal substitute for cannabis. However, the consequences of consumption can be dramatic. Multiple cases have been reported in the past, including circulatory collapse and severe disturbances of consciousness, including unconsciousness. In recent days, there has been a marked increase in emergencies in Bad Kissingen and Würzburg districts. Already on Sunday afternoon, two young men in a community in the district of Bad Kissingen, who had obviously smoked a herb mixture on a balcony and collapsed shortly thereafter, were taken to the hospital with the rescue helicopter. „Early Monday morning, the Bad Kissingen police station once again had to deal with an unresponsive young man who had obviously smoked a herbal mixture with a hookah“, so the message from the police. The disoriented 19-year-old had been found lying on the ground by his mother and had apparently injured in his uncontrolled movements on the face.
Police urgently warn against smoking herbal mixtures
The police Würzburg reported another case of massive health hazards after inhaling the smoke of herbal mixtures on Monday, in which four men aged 18 to 34 years were unconscious and / or complained of severe nausea and vomiting. One of the victims had also suffered a nose fracture in a fall. All four were admitted to Würzburg clinics. The police headquarters Lower Franconia warns in its press release urgently against the smoking of any herbal mixtures. „Neither the short-term nor the long-term health hazards associated with the consumption of such substances should be assessed or controlled“, so the message from the police. In the end, be „It can not be ruled out that inhaling the smoke of such herbal mixtures could be fatal.“ (Fp)
