Alcohol consumption: dependency in Hesse still high

Around 96,000 people in Hesse are seriously alcoholic according to the Hessische Landesstelle für Suchtfragen (HLH). In addition, just under 700,000 Hessians would show a risky alcohol consumption of more than 0.6 liters of beer. In Germany, this probably applies to around 9.5 million people. Although there has been a decline in alcohol consumption among children and adolescents for several years, so-called binge drinking continues to worry HLS experts.
