Small tricks to save the holiday recovery in everyday life
Who can not turn off work even on vacation, is under constant stress. After all, 38 percent of Germans are affected, as a survey of Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) shows. For many, the recovery either does not occur at all or it is immediately replaced by the stress of everyday life, when you're back at work.
Slowly get used to everyday life after your vacation
"It is important that recovery takes time - even after the holidays," explains psychologist York Scheller of TK. "The body has to switch to rest in peace and then back again." But if appointments are due on the first day after the holiday, numerous emails have to be answered and stacks of unprocessed files on the desk, pressure and stress quickly build up. "If it's possible, the first working day should be in the middle of the week, a relaxed start is usually better and you have the prospect of a quick weekend," advises Scheller. In this way, you can relax unpacking his bags and slowly get used to everyday life again.
"Small souvenirs from vacation also give a short break at work," the psychologist continues. "So you can reminisce again and get back the good feeling."
According to the survey, permanent accessibility is particularly stressful for most working people. This is especially true if you also have to be reachable during leisure time and on vacation.
Four out of ten self-employed respondents said so. 32 percent of senior executives and 28 percent of employees feel the same way. "If it is possible, you should leave out the service cell phone while on vacation," advises Scheller.
Relaxation exercises such as yoga, tai chi, qi gong and autogenic training also help to switch off despite a stressful job in the leisure time. Relaxing body and mind reduces the stress level and the pressure drops off the practitioner. (Ag)
