No effect of Okoubaka in a study
Study: Drug testing with Okoubaka
09/18/2013
The drug picture of Okoubaka aubrevillei was examined in a new drug trial. In homeopathy, the potencies of this plant are often used in the treatment of stomach problems.
In the double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled drug testing 31 subjects were included, of which ultimately 29 data subjects were available for evaluation. 18 subjects received the drug (O. aubrevillei C12), 11 unknowingly tested placebo. The follow-up time was 16 days. The subjects noted the observed symptoms, which were subsequently evaluated statistically.
Comparing the symptoms of subjects from the verum group with the symptoms of the subjects from the placebo group, no statistically significant difference was found in the number of characteristic symptoms. The agreement of the two reviewers in the evaluation of the characteristic symptoms was high. Overall, a sobering result, but the authors discuss the possible reasons in detail.
