16/10/2014
The decision to reduce the statutory health insurance (SHI) contribution from 15.5 to 14.6 percent is unlikely to result in any relief for the insured, as the average additional contribution increases by 0.9 percentage points, according to the news agency „dpa“ based on available figures from the environment of the GKV circle of estimators.
In terms of cost development, the group of experts consisting of experts from the Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Insurance Office and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds for 2015 forecasts an increase in expenditure per insured person of 4.1 per cent.
The circle of valuers has the task under the fifth Social Code, „on the basis of the official statistics of the statutory health insurance to evaluate the development of the income, expenses as well as the number of the insured and members in the legal health insurance of the current year“, reports the Federal Insurance Office on its website. On this basis, a prognosis is made about the further development in the respective following year and after evaluation of the results the fixing of the average additional contribution by the Federal Ministry of Health takes place in each case until 1 November of a calendar year.
