Every second person over the age of 50 would be open to assisted living
According to a survey, more than 50 percent of over-50s in Germany are open to assisted living. Almost a third thinks that such a possibility would be too expensive for them. In some cases, the costs are covered by the insurance. More and more people can imagine assisted living.
Assisted living or living in Mehrgenerationenhaus
Roughly one in two 50- to 80-year-olds, according to a study by the AOK's Scientific Institute, can imagine assisted living or living in a multi-generation home. As reported by the news agency dpa, the health insurance company said that 54.1 percent of the respondents were open to assisted living. However, 31 percent said that such an offer would be too expensive for them.
Senior WG's are less popular
A total of 51.8 percent rated life in a multi-generation house as attractive. With such houses are meant households in which old and young people live together under one roof. Pure senior living communities where several elderly people live together are less well-informed. Only 39 percent of respondents were open to it. And even the 24-hour care appeared only 41.1 percent as attractive. The study surveyed 2,006 people between the ages of 50 and 80 in the summer of last year.
Insurance coverage
In many cases, the care fund of the own health insurance is responsible for the assumption of the costs. Basically, the determination of the need for care applies to the assumption of costs. Those in need of care are persons who are dependent on constant help with regularly recurring activities of daily life. If a request has been made, the medical service of the health insurance funds will prepare an expert report on the spot with the applicant and determine the classification of the need for care. (Ad)
