Homeopathy Research: Price for ADHD Study: Significant Improvement in Children

Homeopathy is effective and cost effective for hyperactive children. This is the result of a Swiss research team headed by Dr. Ing. Klaus von Ammon, University of Bern. For this they were awarded the Research Prize 2013 of the Sandoz AG awarded by the Institute of Family Medicine of the University of Basel.

The research work of Klaus von Ammon et al. addresses the topic of attention deficit syndrome with and without hyperactivity (AD [H] S) in children. These are the 10-year results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 83 children with ADHD according to DSM-IV criteria. Children between the ages of 7 and 15 were randomized to receive classical homeopathy or placebo. A suitable study design has been developed, which fits both a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study (RCT) and the diagnostic-therapeutic approach of classical homeopathy.

Conclusion of the study: The treatment with classical homeopathy leads to a significant improvement of the clinical symptoms lasting more than 10 years in children with AD (H) S. Cognitive performance and social behavior have improved significantly during the screening phase and until the end of the RCT and have remained stable over the long term. (Pm)
