High heel at the pill after
Much was discussed in advance about the consequences of the discontinued prescription for the "pill afterwards". As far as the paragraph is concerned, it can now be stated that, immediately after release from the prescription requirement, a drastic increase in levies was first noted and that the quantities dispensed have meanwhile stabilized at the elevated level, according to the pharmaceutical market research company IMS Health.
After much hesitation, the federal government had to bow to the specifications of the EU at the beginning of the year and cancel the prescription requirement for the "morning after pill". Since March, the preparation "ellaOne®" with the active ingredient ulipristal is available over the counter and since April, "PiDaNa®" with the active ingredient levonorgestrel is also available without a prescription, according to the announcement of IMS Health. In the first few weeks after discharge from prescription, the volume of dispensed packs has increased by 40 percent, and now the weekly delivery volume is at a stable level of between 13,000 and 14,000 packs.
Lack of contraception often gives rise to the use of the "pill afterwards"A large part of the preparations go to self-payers
Almost 80 percent of the "pills thereafter" have been spent on self-medication or on self-payers since the prescription requirement ceased to exist, reports IMS Health. The analysis according to the payment method also shows that only behind seven percent of all delivered over-the-counter packs of emergency contraceptives are prescriptions of a statutory health insurance (SHI). Twice as many (14 percent) would be given to a prescription of private health insurance (PKV). (Fp)
