24.01.2011
As the foundation German Pollen Flight Information Service announced, the first pollen is already active this year. Currently, mild pollen counts of alder and hazelnut are evident. The pollen load of the Ambrosia plant is expected to last longer in 2011.
According to the pollen forecast by the German Weather Service, the first pollen from hazelnut and alder are approaching. At present, very weak to weak values are measured for almost all regions in Germany. In southern Germany, however, weak to moderate levels were detected.
According to the PID, allergy sufferers of hazelnut and alder may already be affected by hay fever and sneezing. According to the Association, about six million people in Germany are allergic to tree pollen. As in the previous year, an increase in the occurrence of birch pollen is expected this year. For grasses, a relatively normal season is expected this year. The ambrosia pollen and mugwort will most likely be prolonged this year. (Sb)
400 so-called "phenological instant messengers" announce the pollen count of hazel, alder, birch, grasses and other allergy plants throughout Germany. The measurements and reports of the phenological instant messengers are used for the daily pollen forecast of the German Weather Service. The foundation Deutscher Polleninformationsdienst also evaluates the data in 45 different locations in the republic. These data are also included in the overall rating of the weather service. (Sb)
