Suspected food poisoning of refugees in the Würzburg monastery
After many residents in a Bavarian refugee emergency accommodation had complained of severe nausea and vomiting, a large-scale deployment of rescue workers was initiated, in which, according to the "Bavarian Radio" (BR) temporarily 80 paramedics and rescue workers were in use. Following the first examinations and medical care of those affected, there is a suspicion of food poisoning.

In the monastery of the redeeming sisters in Würzburg are currently accommodated 100 refugees, of which about 30 on Friday complained of nausea and vomiting, reports the "BR", citing the police spokesman Peter Häusinger. A large-scale operation with at times 80 rescue workers was initiated, the victims examined and medically supplied. Three patients had to be hospitalized.

Cause the complaints not yet clarified
What caused the complaints to the residents of the refugee emergency accommodation, remains initially open. According to the police, food poisoning could possibly be the cause because the symptoms occurred immediately after the asylum seekers shared meals, reports the "BR". The police have initiated investigations to investigate the causes, and the diet and the food consumed should be analyzed in more detail. The health department and the University of Würzburg are also involved in the search for the specific triggers for mass sickness.

The refugees are according to the "BR" since October 2014 housed in the Würzburg monastery. The Congregation of the Savior Sisters had made the rooms available as emergency shelters for refugees. So far, no incidents have occurred here, reports the "BR". (Fp)
