Do not brew green tea too hot

Do not brew green tea too hot / Health News

Green tea loses its health boosting effect when brewed too hot.

(26.07.2010) It depends on the right method of brewing, so that green tea can also complete its full effect. The research group Klostermedizin refers to this. The tea should therefore be brewed with a maximum of 60 to 70 degrees. Overlying temperatures may destroy important health effects.

It is best to wait five to ten minutes after the water has boiled until the green tea is poured over. The active ingredients in green tea are called polyphenols. Their main ingredient is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Studies have shown that epigallocatechingallate can neutralize toxic protein deposits in the body. This probably reduces the risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. It is also believed that green tea also has an antioxidant effect and thus prevents cancer. However, there are still insufficient studies to confirm this.

To achieve a healthy effect, the research group Klostermedizin recommends drinking at least four cups of green tea per day. A good green tea without pesticides can be found in all sorted organic and health food shops. According to Chinese tradition, green tea also has a variety of healing, strengthening and preventative effects. (Sb)
