Weight gain due to weak heart
Weight gain may be due to weak heart

People with a weak heart should keep a good eye on their body weight. Experts point out that heart disease can lead to water retention in the body. This would - even despite usual eating habits - the Libra daily more.
Weight gain due to water retention in the body
If the view of the scale reveals that you have already gained another kilogram, it is not necessarily a calorie-rich diet that is responsible for the unexpected weight gain. Even a weak heart can be the cause. This is indicated by the German Heart Foundation. This is because in coronary heart disease, a heart attack or hypertension of the heart muscle are weakened and this can have consequences. In such cases, it sometimes comes to water retention in the body. The person concerned is thus gaining weight.
Those affected should weigh each other at the same time each day
Among other things, the water retention arises because the blood flowing back to the heart is no longer pumped sufficiently by the weakened heart muscle. As a result, a backwater forms in front of the heart, which can reach back into the abdomen or feet and increase the pressure in the small veins there. As a result, more liquid from the blood is pressed into the local tissue and water retention occurs. The German Heart Foundation recommends that all people with cardiac insufficiency weigh as much as possible on a daily basis - ideally always at the same time - so that water retention can be detected as early as possible.
Normal fluctuations in body weight
However, it is not all-inclusive, from which weight gain you should be aware. This is because the normal variations in body weight are very different from person to person. If there is actually a diminishing pumping power of the heart behind an increase in weight, the medications should be checked and, if necessary, adjusted. Also recommended is an ultrasound scan (echocardiography) to accurately detect possible water retention.
Warning sign for a heart failure
According to the German Heart Foundation, around three million people in this country are affected by heart failure. About 50,000 die each year from the consequences. However, many do not know about their condition. In addition to the described unexpected weight gain, other symptoms may indicate a disease. Thus, among the possible signs include breathlessness, chest pain, an irregular beating of the heart (fluttering), sudden and rapid tiredness, nocturnal cough, dizziness to the point of fainting or that you can no longer lie flat. Other warning signs may be swelling of the legs, ankles and abdomen, as well as sudden urinating. If a heart failure has been diagnosed, those affected will usually be advised to move more. An adequate training program, which should be clarified with the doctor, the performance can be increased enormously. (Ad)
