Health risk Never rip nose hair
Who wants nose hair to grow from the nose? It looks unappetising with man and woman. That's why most people just tear their hair off. "But beware," warns a doctor, the rupture of the nose hair could "lead to a serious inflammation." In rare cases, people have already died. But: there are alternatives.
Never tear nose hairs
There are hardly any people who find nasal hair attractive. Those who grow many of them - mostly men - usually try to get rid of them quickly. Some use special nose hair trimmers, small electrical appliances that are also used to remove hair from the ears. Others cut them off with a normal nail scissors. And some people pluck and tear their hair out regularly. But according to doctors, this can be dangerous.
Helpful filters for large particles
Those who tear out nose hair again and again, risk damage to health, warns the US ENT doctor Dr.. Erich Voigt from "New York University" in a video on the website of the magazine "Business Insider".
"The front nose hairs are helpful filters for large particles," explains the physician. If the hair is removed, so even small particles can be easier on the breath into the lungs.
Germs live on the hair follicles
Another problem is that there are germs on the hair follicles, which can easily penetrate into the body through the ripping and can cause infections. "These infections are extremely dangerous and they can be deadly," Dr. Voigt. "The veins that deliver blood from the nose lead to the veins that come from the brain," explains the ear, nose and throat doctor.
This can cause "meningitis and brain abscesses," warns the physician. The nose belongs according to Dr. Voigt with his mouth to the so-called "Danger Triangle" ("dangerous triangle") for infections.
In order to minimize such risks, so should be dispensed with the tearing of nose hair. But the hair can be shortened, for example, with a flattened nail scissors or a Nasenhaartrimmer mentioned above. (Ad)
