Health Malaysia against obesity in children
Malaysia's government is fighting child obesity
18.04.2011
Malaysia wants to get overweight children to lose weight by showing the body mass index (BMI) in school reports. The government in Kuala Lumpur hopes to make children lose weight and protect their health. The BMI sets the weight in relation to the size, which can determine whether a student is overweight or even obese (obese). Although the government has been working hard to address the growing problem of obesity for some time now, according to the Ministry of Health, there is a percentage more overweight in Malaysia than in any other Southeast Asian country. The Kuala Lumpur government has already banished sugary drinks and most sweets from school canteens to address the problem of obesity and adiposity among adolescents. Nevertheless, the number of fat students has continued to increase, reports the Malaysian Ministry of Health. (Fp)
