Night's sleep during hot nights: nude sleepers catch cold easily
For a restful sleep, the room temperature in the bedroom should be 16 to 18 degrees. In summer, however, it is often much warmer in the house. Some people undress in bed completely. For health reasons, this is not recommended, because nude sleepers catch cold easily.

When it is too warm to sleep at night

In deep sleep, the body temperature is not regulated properly
Even if the nights are still so hot, it is better not to sleep naked, because this increases the risk of catching a cold.

As the Berlin sleep physician Prof. Thomas Penzel explains in the current issue (7B / 2017) of the "Apotheken Umschau", the body no longer properly regulates its temperature when a person is deeply asleep.

If there is also a window open or air conditioning in operation, you can easily get a cold.

Sleeping nude is not only recommended because of the risk of cold, but also for reasons of hygiene. Because at night we give off up to half a liter of sweat.

Light sleepwear and thin blanket
So you can sleep in spite of the summer heat, you should, for example, spring blankets for light cotton sheets or thin blankets replace.

Sleeping physician Penzel also advises to light sleepwear made of natural materials such as linen or silk.

Another sleep aid tip for tropical nights: Turn the hot water bottle into a cooling bottle.

Fill it with water and put it in the fridge for about three hours before bedtime.

The best way is the cooling bottle wrapped in a thin sheet with taken to bed. Even a short shower with lukewarm water at bedtime can be relaxing and sleep-inducing. (Ad)
