09/03/2015
Many people who rely on a healthy diet primarily use fruits and vegetables. For some, there is almost nothing else on the plate: Unprocessed food is currently very much in vogue. But even if it is considered by some to be a hipper lifestyle: raw food is basically healthy, if the balance is respected.
Nothing cooked on the plate
Whether it's spaghetti made from zucchini, a cold coconut curry soup or a raw food dish with sultanas: nothing is cooked on the plate for raw foodists. Since Hollywood stars like Uma Thurman and Demi Moore are also committed to this, Rohost is currently a trendy lifestyle trend, but above all, it is a healthy diet, as long as balance is respected. The „Day of healthy nutrition“, which took place on Saturday, offers itself to illuminate the topic more exactly.
Raw food is trendy
There are different views on what raw food is exactly. Although most of the raw food schools are vegan or vegetarian, there are also fish or meat „allowed“ are. In any case, you can cook without a stove and without cooking, frying, baking or steaming not only delicious but also healthy on the table. Especially in the US is the so-called „Raw food“ a trendy trend. But also here in Germany, especially vegetarian restaurants offer a raw food offer, usually including various smoothies (fruit or vegetable drinks).
Many reasons for a healthy diet
There are several reasons why people choose this diet. Often, allergies play an important role, but also ethical, ecological and above all health reasons are given. In addition, some use phaseless on Rohost to reduce their weight. Often, however, raw food dishes are not that meager when one thinks of dishes such as zucchini noodles with red pesto, celery beetroot lasagna, vegetable sticks with avocado dip or chanterelle salad with artichokes. The effort to prepare the dishes, however, is usually greater. There are many tasty recipes and recommended ingredients on the internet as well as on the book and magazine market, as well as information on where to buy them.
Uncooked and natural
Due to the uncooked preparation, the food remains natural and thus heat-sensitive vitamins, minerals, proteins and enzymes are not destroyed. In addition, raw food lovers often point to the intense taste of their meals and the variety of ways that opens up this diet of plants, fruits, nuts, seeds, seedlings and sprouts. Often, wild plants, which are richer in minerals and fiber, are on the list of ingredients. Some supporters of this diet also believe that the human organism is not genetically adapted to cooked, fried, baked, fried or whatever denatured food. The consequences are civilization diseases such as overweight or obesity, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure or heart attack, rheumatism and allergies.
Nutrition experts welcome raw food trend
Nutrition experts have long advised against too sweet, too salty, low-fiber food as well as an excess of animal products. But strict raw food remains controversial, especially if it is operated unilaterally. Therefore, here are similar recommendations as they are often advised vegans. They should ensure the supply of minerals such as zinc, iron, calcium and iodine as well as vitamin B12 through a balanced diet - if necessary with dietary supplements. From the perspective of the German Nutrition Society (DGE), the new trend towards raw food is to be welcomed. The reasons are among other things that this diet can help to strengthen the masticatory apparatus and to stimulate digestion, but also because of the higher vitamin content of untreated foods and the longer-lasting feeling of fullness.
Balanced and versatile
However, a prerequisite is that a raw food diet is as balanced and versatile as possible. According to nutrition expert and DGE spokeswoman Antje Gahl, the main danger to raw food eaters is that they overstrain their digestive tract and ingest too few calories. The consequence of this could be underweight. It is important not to deny the new trend. According to Gahl, effort and income should be in proportion. Because that too is part of a healthy lifestyle.
