Office workers should come to 10,000 steps every day
Back pain and tension: Anyone who spends a lot of time sitting down because of his job endangers his health. Office workers should therefore pay attention to sufficient movement in between. Health experts recommend taking at least 10,000 steps daily.

All day on the office chair
Millions of people in Germany spend their working day sitting, usually moving a little and constantly staring at a monitor. Therefore, it is not surprising that office workers often experience symptoms such as neck tension, headaches, eyelashes and tired, dry eyes. Above all, the back suffers when you spend a lot of time on the chair due to work. Sufferers should therefore prevent.

Backache through office work
In order to avoid back problems caused by office work as much as possible, one should, among other things, pay attention to good ergonomics in the workplace. In addition, sufficient movement in the office is particularly important.

The Association Action Healthy Back (AGR) points out in a message from the news agency dpa that office workers should take care to make every day at least 10,000 steps.

At least 10,000 steps per day
Unfortunately, many do not even come to half. The movement prevents tension in the back and in this way ensures that the intervertebral discs remain elastic. Count the steps per day, for example, with a pedometer app on the smartphone.

People who start with such programs are often disappointed when they see the results. "Many are surprised how little steps they actually make per day," said the occupational physician Christoph Oberlinner in an older dpa message. But controlling by app could be an incentive to integrate more exercise into everyday life.

Oberlinner, who is on the board of the German Association for Occupational Medicine and Environmental Medicine, also advocates that the office work be compensated daily by at least 10,000 steps. (Ad)
