Dangerous parabens should get out of Penaten

Penaten will renounce in the future after protests of parents and environmentalists on questionable preservative parabens

"By mid-2014, parabens will disappear from baby products." This is announced by cosmetics manufacturer Penaten on his Facebook page. The changeover is already in progress. Parabens are widely used by industry as a preservative in cosmetics and food. They have a good antimicrobial and fungicidal property.

The company announced, however, that the addition is included only in the products "Penaten wound protection cream" in the 75 ml tube and the 250 ml crucible and the waiver was anyway planned. But consumers do not have to worry. The ingredients contained in the Penaten products all comply with the requirements of the European Cosmetics Regulation. The concentration of parabens used is considered safe by the Federal Office for Risk Assessment.

For the Federal Government for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND) this conversion is "a small success". Together with a mother, the organization had launched a petition demanding renunciation. In a short time, this was signed by over 25 000 people. Now the manufacturers had to respond to the citizens' protest. (Fr)
