Fusion Two of them create an AOK
Two general local health insurance companies merge to one: The new AOK Northeast.
(26.08.2010) As reported, the AOK Berlin-Brandenburg and the AOK Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will merge. The Boards of Directors of the two health insurance companies have today agreed to the merger. This clears the way to the AOK Northeast. The new health insurance will then be called "AOK Northeast".
Both health insurers want to merge on 1 January 2011. The merger creates the ninth largest statutory health insurance in Germany with a total of approximately 1.8 million insured persons. However, the country supervisory authorities still have to give their consent for the merger. However, it is expected that there will be no complications.
At the beginning of 2010, the "AOK Berlin" and the "AOK Brandenburg" were already merging into a health insurance company called "AOK Berlin-Brandenburg". The new seat of the AOK North East will in future be in Potsdam in Brandenburg. As representatives of both health insurance companies emphasize, the service network with 112 locations is to be maintained. A staff reduction is therefore not planned. The new chairman of the joint health insurance will be Frank Michalak. Michalak is currently head of the AOK Berlin-Brandenburg.
The new health insurance plans no additional contributions to raise. The merger would take you to a secure financial level that does not require such additional contributions. (Fp)
