Overweight: Acupuncture helps with weight loss

According to a new study, acupuncture can be an important help in the fight against excess pounds. By regularly piercing certain points of the ear cups, the feeling of hunger can be influenced.
Losing weight through acupuncture
Already in the past, it has been shown that losing weight through acupuncture is an alternative or a sensible supplement to diets or other measures to reduce excess weight. This is also shown in a study by the South Korean Kyung Hee University in Seoul, to which the men's lifestyle magazine „Men's Health“ (Issue 12/2014, EVT 12 November 14) in a recent paper. Therefore, the acupuncture needles would only need to be stung regularly into certain points of the auricle, which are coupled to the regulation of feelings of hunger.
„Hunger points“ in the earcups
According to various press reports, the study of South Korean scientists involved men and women, all of whom had a body mass index (BMI) of at least 23. The BMI was used in the trial participants, who for a period of two months once a week acupuncture treatment to the „Hunger points“ in the auricles were, on average, about six percent more back than in a comparison group that was not stung.
Ear acupuncture for smoking cessation
This form of acupuncture, also called ear acupuncture, has long been used in natural medicine for other ailments, such as acute and chronic pain, anxiety and inner restlessness or menstrual disorders. However, this form is most common as an aid in weight loss and smoking cessation. For many practitioners, the method is also popular because it can be combined well with other methods. (Ad)
