Researchers Consume More Fiber Against Breast Cancer

The US scientists have evaluated data from almost 44,300 participants. Information from a well-validated questionnaire on fiber intake as adolescents and young adults was available for the study. The Teilhmerinnen were asked about their eating habits during their high school. The nutritional information was updated every four years. Every two years, invasive breast cancer diagnoses were queried and confirmed by pathology findings.
Breast cancer risk reduced
It was found that women had a 13% lower breast cancer risk per intake of 10 g fiber daily than young adults. The scientists suspect improved insulin sensitivity as well as the reduced amount of IGF (insulin-like growth factor) as background for the prevention of fiber. The fiber could also reduce the plasma levels of estrogen. The study can be found here. (Pm)
