Stimulate circulation during long car rides with fitness exercises
06/29/2013
The holidays have begun in the first federal states and tens of thousands of citizens are on their way to vacation by car. Important for the health are regular breaks and small gym exercises to get the circulation going.
Safe and healthy to the goal
The holiday season has begun and many people are making their way to their holiday destination by car. If it is farther away and thus the ride is long, it is recommended to stop and move regularly. The brochure also advertises this „Fit for the holidays“ the eponymous action program, which was presented on Friday in Berlin. The initiative, which will run until 21 September, will be supported by, among others, the ADAC, the Federal Consumers' Ministry and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). It should make a contribution to ensuring that motorists reach their destination safely and soundly.
Exercises for driver and front passenger
With small gym exercises you can get your circulation going, relax your muscles and get fit for the next stage. The driver and front passenger can get their heads free by, for example, walking around the rest area for five minutes while swinging their arms. To speed up the pulse and strengthen the arms, pushups make sense, where you lean against the car. The car occupants can train their balance by standing on one leg and swinging the other back and forth vigorously. You could also hold on to the car door or, if you can trust it, try without a firm grip and with your eyes closed.
Children should let off steam
Especially children are often annoyed by longer trips and become cluttered. To prevent this, you should take your time in the breaks and let them romp on a playground. There's nothing wrong with letting her participate in fitness exercises. The experts also recommend small co-ordination games in their brochure: For example, every child can try to fold a newspaper page in front of him with his or her feet as small as possible.
Light food and plenty of fluids
As a general rule, the advice for longer car journeys is to feed as easily as possible. So better eat several small meals throughout the day and choose rather vegetables and fruits instead of fatty fried foods. Each passenger should take at least 1.5 liters of fluid per day, ideally in the form of water or heavily diluted juice spritzer. (Ad)
